Measuring ø8cm solar cells

Measuring the solar cells did not go as expected. I thought I could use a cheap variable power supply from China. No, the DPS5005 eats up most of the few milli Amps the cells produce. Nothing left on the other side. Here a video of the setup that did not work, I talk about.

Anyway, I carried my voltmeter also. Max volt for this configuration is 12.8V with no load attached. Short circuit gives 175 mA. As the two “6V” strings in series delivers this, I guess each cell deliver around 55 mA at 6.4V. Way less than the seller on Aliexpress promised. What a surprise! 😉

Now, how can I get assured of the possible power delivery of the cells?… Should I build a mini MPPT / Max Power Point Tracker myself?…

– I will consider it… 😀
